Our mission extends beyond better felt… we also want to better the world and honor the traditions and lives of our artisans. That’s why Betterfelt is committed to our status as a certified Fair Trade Importer. This title goes beyond the certification: the ownership of our production facility in coordination with our Nepalese partner ensures that all fair trade practices are overseen and followed through. While we acknowledge the higher production cost of our accreditation, we find ourselves more concerned with the experience and understanding of our employees and producers. We hope to improve the lives of those working with us one slipper at a time.

Your shoes aren’t just mass produced in a factory. Each product is uniquely created by Nepalese artisans, most of them women. Our mission has always been to work with our producers to ensure employment benefits that betters their wellness - things like paid holidays, fair maternity leave, extra salary during the annual Nepalese autumn festivals, and perhaps most importantly, salary equivalents to skilled male workers. We also contribute cash grants to the children of our employees to go toward their public education. In an effort to keep our staff educated too, we offer free English courses;  ensuring that communication amongst all our employers is seamless and clear. We care about much more than just making your feet comfortable.
